Meet our Group Creative Lead, Alex

It should come as no surprise that Ayrburn looks and feels like a movie set when you consider that the lady behind it all, Alex, our Group Creative Lead, has over a decade’s experience in the film industry.
In her favourite role to date, Alex is responsible for delivering visually appealing and brand-aligned design solutions across the Winton Group's portfolio, spanning commercial, hospitality, and residential projects, including our very own Ayrburn.
With a Bachelor of Fine Arts under her belt and a penchant for perfection, Alex isn’t opposed to taking on new and exciting briefs, which currently include Cracker Bay, Northbrook, and Ayrburn’s next venue, Billy’s—coincidentally the name of Alex’s daughter. Alex alludes to the fact that the styling of Billy’s (due to open this winter) is everything you've come to know and love about the Ayrburn aesthetic, taken to the highest level where opulence and flair are concerned. And to think, you thought you’d seen it all?

A work of art, quite literally

Testament to Alex’s keen eye, each surface, piece of furniture, and accessory ties together the Ayrburn narrative. With all details carefully curated, every visit promises the discovery of a new nook. Calling upon suppliers from both nearby and overseas, Alex has ensured the precinct retains its New Zealand heritage while transporting guests to a place far, far away.

And then, of course, there’s the art, from the playful illustrations in The Bakehouse to the fine works in The Woolshed. Across the precinct, there are too many pieces to count. Since the inception of Ayrburn, Alex has devoted hours to auction houses across the country, sourcing special pieces, some of which have never known the joys of being on public display until they found their place on the wall at one of our venues.

Whilst many guests may not realise the gravitas of the art they’re sitting under when they’re enjoying their market fish, Alex knows that each inch of wall space is carefully considered, with an important part to play in the Ayrburn narrative.

And Alex’s personal favourite (so far)? Colin McCahon’s ‘Fifteen Drawings’ (pictured on the right in The Woolshed).
